Lightbulb!

I figured it out peeps. I had a full-on REVELATION yesterday as I waddled around from place to place (Target, the mall, baby boutique). Yes, people are stopping and staring. Yes, some jerk-offs in the hallway in my OB's office building were mocking me behind my back (and I turned around and asked them if they were really mocking me), yes at the wedding I went to this weekend a woman actually left her place in the loooong buffet line just to come up and ask me if I had an 'exit strategy.'

I get it people. I am a sight to behold.

And yesterday it finally occurred to me why this is.

Save ONE, every single woman I have ever known who was/is pregnant with twins has been put on bedrest during her pregnancy. Hospital bedrest, home bedrest, modified bedrest -- some form of bedrest is extremely common. So the fact that I'm just days away from having the Twinks and by some sort of dumb luck am still driving, wandering around running errands and being seen in the light of day by the general public, makes me, in fact, an endangered species.

Which explains all the pointing and staring.

It also makes a good case for my joining the circus or being an attraction at the zoo.

Yesterday at my *final* OB appointment before I go in on Monday, I measured 46 weeks. Once again, my blood pressure was high, 142/80 and there was protein in my pee. My OB was concerned but not enough to say "we're taking the babies right now." Still, she didn't want to risk going the whole weekend without me being monitored, so I'm going in for a non-stress test on Friday. She told me to be ready to have the babies that day, just in case.

So things are moving at a pretty quick clip around here (moi, excluded of course). And because Murgdan is always so sweet and tells me she loves my pictures, I am including a profile AND a straight on shot of my belly. Now just *imagine* if THIS were coming your way as you casually sipped your latte at the mall. Let's be honest people, you just *might not* be able to stop yourself from choking on your frothy beverage.

P.S. Are you tired of seeing my bathroom yet?

Okay... so I can so see why you're getting so many stares! ;-)

Even though you look like you're going to explode at any minute, you still look so put together and ready to take on the day. If you only could have seen pictures of me when I was 41 weeks (yes my big girl was oh so late) it would have scared you into having those babies already!

I hope you have a wonderful couple of days before the most exciting part begins. Enjoy....

You've got a beautiful bump! Stupid people staring like that...
Wishing you well for the next few days - your blood pressure really doesn't sound so bad but I guess it's good that they're taking all the precautions.

HO.LY crap. I can't wait to see these little guys! I know you feel like a house but that has got to be the cutest "baby bump" I have ever seen. You are all belly.

Yep, you are rocking that belly all right! You look adorable. I am obviously not out much, but I do get questions and stares as a waddle from the car up to the OB's office. People's eyes pop out of their heads when my answer to the "when are you due" question is April 18.

I have two friends who went 38 weeks with their twins without bedrest. It absolutely blows my mind!!

Hey, your shirts are covering your belly button (or the area where your belly button once was). That's super impressive in itself.

Hi. I love your blog. I stumbled upon it by accident but couldn't stop reading. I too have infertility issues. We had a (first) sucessful IVF 3 years ago and have a beautiful boy - born 12-1-07. I did two FETs last year and had BFP both times but the first was probably just a chemical pg and I miscaried at about 7 wks after the 2nd FET. We did another cycle but were not able to complete it as an IVF so we did IUI. Hoping for the best. You are amazing and an inspiration.

Haha, I remember when I was pregnant with Aitana. I went to my OB office and the nurse asked "Waouh,Katell, you look great, but huge ! When are you due??" and when I quietly answered "Tomorrow", everybody in the waiting room just stared... and I was only pregnant with ONE !!!
Hope everything goes well, thinking of you and sending you much looooooove.

Whoa! I'm very impressed--and that's a good point about most moms of twins being on bed rest--GO YOU!!! :)

You're so stinking cute! I had a friend who had twins at 38 weeks. This friend is about 5'10" tall and, at 38 weeks, it looked as if both of her boys had their feet on her spine and their heads on her navel and were stretched out to their absolute maximum height. She was GARGANTUAN!! And she came home from her planned c-section wearing her pre-maternity street clothes. Less than 6 months after the birth of her boys she had to buy an entirely new wardrobe because she'd gotten so skinny NOTHING fit her. I hope that you experience that particular joy!

Good luck. Take care. Keep the pictures coming. We love your bathroom and wish we could live there, too!

I busted up laughing, you do have a way of "setting things up" and building the anticipation before your photos.

All I could think was, "Hey lady! Be careful where you point that thing!" LOL

Meant lovingly, of course. :)

I came here from a link someone shared on Twitter, and you look amazing!
My mom carried my twin sisters to 38w, and she said that at the end, she couldn't even button my dad's coat over her belly... but she was so thankful to be up and around and chasing a two year old, instead of on bedrest praying to make it just a little longer. I love that you share her attitude!
